There is a reason every great Tanzania itinerary ends with an island.
The Logic of Bush and Beach
Safaris are early mornings, dust and adrenaline. Zanzibar is none of those things. The transition — five days of dawn drives into five days of hammock rhythm — feels less like a holiday than a small life properly lived.
The Flight
Light aircraft connect Serengeti airstrips to Zanzibar in 1.5–2.5 hours, often with a brief stop. You land on the coast by mid-afternoon, sunset in reach. We book these flights as one seamless ticket with your luggage transferred.
Where to Stay
- North-east coast (Matemwe, Pongwe): postcard beaches, quiet, sunrise-facing
- Nungwi & Kendwa: livelier, swimmable all tides, famous sunsets
- Stone Town: one or two nights of history before the sand
What to Do (and Not Do)
Do: Mnemba snorkelling, a spice farm, Stone Town's doors, a dhow sunset. Don't: over-schedule. The island rewards slowness — tides, sea breezes and grilled octopus have their own agenda.
When to Go
June–October pairs perfectly with safari season — dry and breezy. December–February offers the calmest seas for snorkelling. April–May brings rain and low prices.
The Scareface Way
One team handles the whole arc — flights, transfers, camps, island hotels — so your only job is the transition from khaki to linen. Ask us to sketch your bush-and-beach itinerary; it is the itinerary we are proudest of.
